Students who wish to interrupt their studies (suspension of studies) must log in at https://morpheus.hmu.gr/ (the person icon at the top right) with their institutional student credentials (second option) and then select from the right side of the page the call "Interruption of Studies". They will create a new application and follow the instructions provided in their application on the right. If the application is approved, the applicant must submit to the Secretariat in a timely manner:

• Their academic ID card

The reasons considered sufficient for the interruption of studies are: A. Fulfillment of military obligations (student conscription) B. Financial reasons C. Family and social reasons D. Health reasons Studying at another Educational Institution in Greece or abroad is not an acceptable justification for interruption of studies. The required supporting documents depending on the reason for interruption of studies are:

1. Copy of the conscript's call-up notice, or
2. Copies of the E1 income declaration and the tax clearance certificate of the family or the student, or
3. Any document related to family or social reasons, or
4. Certificate from a public Hospital or Health Committee.

The following apply regarding the interruption of studies:

• The period of interruption of studies cannot exceed two (2) years.
• Students who interrupt their studies lose their student status throughout the entire period of interruption. After the end of the interruption of studies, students automatically return to their previous status and regain their student status.
• For the duration of the interruption of studies, the academic ID card - Special Ticket Card (pass) of the student is deposited at the Secretariat of their Department.
• Students who have received a certificate of studies for the new academic year do not have the right to submit an application for interruption of studies, except in exceptional cases (e.g. serious illness). If a Certificate of Studies has been issued, the Secretariat, in order to issue the Certificate of Interruption of Studies, requests its return and a Solemn Declaration that it has not been submitted to an external body. If it has been submitted to an external body, then a Solemn Declaration is requested, declaring that they are obliged to withdraw it.
• Those admitted in 2024-25 will be able to apply for suspension once they obtain their student credentials via an email that will be sent when the Secretariat receives the relevant notification from the Ministry of Education.

The call for Interruption of Studies will be open for student applications from 13/9/24.
