Infrastructure of the Department of Electronic Engineering
The Department of Electronic Engineering, with its 3 Divisions and its 5 established University Laboratories, has 35+ specialized laboratory spaces with the appropriate infrastructure and the required specialized equipment for teaching the corresponding laboratory courses, training students in scientific/technological applications and carrying out diploma theses. The scientific/laboratory equipment of most laboratory spaces is significant, relatively modern and is maintained/renewed on a regular basis (e.g. over the last 5 years > 1,500,000€ has been invested for its renewal).
Specifically regarding the laboratory infrastructure, the Department of Electronic Engineering has:
- 5 laboratory rooms (16-26 people) for informatics and applications laboratories with appropriate software for conducting courses in structured/object-oriented programming, computer networks, GIS, web technologies, digital design, computer architecture, database management systems, operating systems, special topics in networks, etc., and
- 15 laboratory rooms (at least 8 workstations of 2 people each) with special equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, generators, field meters, spectrum and network analyzers, etc.) and computers with appropriate software for conducting courses in power electronics, electronic devices, digital circuits, embedded systems, antennas, microwaves, radar, telecommunications systems, mobile/satellite communications, sensors, measurements, lasers, PLC, optoelectronics and optical communications, wireless/wired communications, automatic control systems, industrial automation, e/m compatibility, circuit synthesis, etc.).
The infrastructure and the basic laboratory spaces of the Department ensure the provision of high-level education with emphasis on laboratory courses (which is one of the strong points of Departments that originate from TEI) and in harmony with the modern requirements of electronic engineering, telecommunications, informatics, automation and computers.
